The digital metrology workflow, a new paradigm for the knowledge based manufacturing

Antonio Ventura - Traveset
Innovalia Metrology - Spain

Resumen de la ponencia

Knowledge based manufacturing is defining a new scenario where competitivity is strongly conditioned by the capacity of the companies to implement agile methods for the different phases of the product life cycle. CAx technologies have been extensively introduced and improved during the last decades, allowing the engineering teams to reduce time to market of new designs, improve productivity, guarantee quality of the products and, as a result, to increase customer satisfaction. Traditional metrology approaches have contributed to the quality management, but massive and universal access and use of the manufactured product information (dimensions and geometries, materials, structure) is an imperative demand to truly develop the Knowledge based manufacturing paradigm. The tutorial presents an analysis of the new scenario, starting with the requirements of the engineering teams and defining a new paradigm based in the virtualization of the metrological process. Implications of the extensive use of the 3D optical scanning technologies, advanced database servers and on demand metrology software are presented, as well the concept of Personal Metrology Space.
