Nowadays, illumination systems need to achieve some characteristics regarding performance, energy efficiency and production cost.
Stamped refractive structures on thermoplastic substrates, spread and distribute the light, and therefore an optimization of the luminous efficacy is done.
The FlexPAET project aim is the development of an innovative process chain for the high volume production of large area micro structured surfaces in thermoplastic substrates.
This process need to be tested, to ensure that the final results are the desired ones. Here is where metrology takes part. It is necessary to test dimensional parameters (structures, stamping tools) and functional parameters (luminosity, directivity), and of course to automate these measures.

Pere C. Pont has a B.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering and a M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering, from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
He has worked in the semiconductor industry and currently is working in Datapixel, where he develops R&D projects related to metrology and vision systems.
