An automated multi-system demonstrator for advanced optical measurement
Her session will address the importance optical metrology has in sectors that have a rapid growth such as automotive or medical industries, an area that has become an essential tool for ensuring the quality and accuracy in the inspection of complex components. This presentation will showcase the ongoing development of an advanced metrology demonstrator that incorporates optical metrology technologies that improve the measurement speed and automation. Moreover, she will present the latest pipeline software developments in this project and showcase the first data results that show promising data acquired from photogrammetry and fringe projection systems, and the software connections between systems.
Dr. Samanta Piano is Professor of Metrology, Head of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research Group, director of the Midlands Centre for Data-Driven Metrology and lead of the Manufacturing Metrology team at the University of Nottingham (UoN). Her research interests concern the development of innovative and unconventional optical techniques and 3D probing systems for high-precision coordinate metrology to be used in industrial applications. She is currently investigating how artificial intelligence approaches can be used for improving optical measurement systems. She has contributed to several forefront areas of experimental condensed matter physics, materials science, atomic and optical physics, metrology, and nanotechnology.
