Cognitive Digital Twins
Prof. Dr. Kyritsis brings us the concept of “Cognitive Digital Twin” (CDT) a trend that combines Digital Twin (DT) with advanced semantic modelling technologies to provide DT with cognition capabilities. CDT is, in his own words, “a digital twin with additional cognitive capabilities that include: attention, memory, problem-solving, reasoning and learning. This presentation focuses on the CDT, including its vision and features; introducing some application scenarios and discussing its future opportunities and challenges.
Prof. Dr. Dimitris Kyritsis (Kiritsis) is Emeritus Professor of ICT for Sustainable Manufacturing at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland and Senior Adviser at the Department of Informatics of the University of Oslo, Norway. He has served in various universities as both Guest Professor and Invited Professor, Dr. Kyritsis is actively involved in EU research programs in the area of Connected Factories of the Future, Zero Defect Manufacturing, Twin (Green and Digital) Transition and so forth. He is founding member of the International Society for Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM) and co-founder of the Industrial Ontologies Foundry (IOF) and since 2023, Member of the WEF Impact Circle: Digital Transformation of Industries.
