Every year the Technical Committee of Metromeet rewards a speaker for an outstanding presentation. This year it was a tough competition because of the high quality of several speakers.
Finally, the committee gave the Best Speaker Award to Ulrich Thombansen, management engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Lasertechnology ILT, for his presentation “Laser-based Equipment Assessment for advanced manufacturing in Europe”. The Technical Committee remarked the high quality of his presentation and the real applicability.
He currently works in the area of process control and system technology. His main focus is on the development of integrated solutions for robust manufacturing of innovative products. The area of expertise includes optical design, electronics and signal processing, real-time hardware implementation and system integration with respect to automation and mechanics.
